YEREVAN. – Around 30,000 unemployed mothers will receive maternity and childbirth benefits starting January 1, 2016, Minister of Social Affairs Artem Asatryan said in the parliament on Friday.

According to deputy head of social security state service Smbat Sahiyan, this will require around $23 million from the budget. The average benefit will total around $575, excluding taxes.

Earlier the benefits were received only by working women.
