YEREVAN. – Number one achievement of Turkey’s parliamentary elections were results of the Kudish Democratic Party that got six million votes and changed political architecture in the country, expert on Turkey Vahram Ter-Matevosyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

The expert believes the balance of power in political field of Turkey has changed significantly. The rules of game have changed, and Erdogan who is a politician number one could not participate in the elections with the weight and power he used to have during the previous elections.

“Turkey’s constitution prevented him from fully criticizing the opposition parties, and this could not but influence the election,” the expert said.

According to him, despite spared financial and administrative resources the ruling party lost around 3.5 million votes as compared to the previous elections.

“When Erdogan became a president, he thought he left the party in the hands of a reliable person –  Ahmet Davutoglu, but the latter did not use the authority that could consolidate the existing huge potential. Another factor in the results of this election was Erdogan vision of building the so-called "New Turkey", which dismembered the Turkish society. And, in fact, these elections were a call to Erdogan to stop and think about the future that he wanted to create,” Vahram Ter-Matevosyan added.
