YEREVAN. – According to the now-established tradition, the Chief of Police of Armenia, Vladimir Gasparyan, again visited the starting point of Baghramian Avenue in capital city Yerevan, on Friday at 8:30am.

He recalled the demonstrators—who demand the cancelation of the recent decision to raise the price of electricity in the country—that cleanliness of the area should be maintained at all times.

Subsequently, Gasparyan spoke with reporters.

To the remark that the protesters agree to start a dialogue with the authorities if the latter ensure live broadcast, the police chief responded: “You do not posit demands to the president of the country, you accept.”

To the comment that the citizens of the country elect the president, and therefore to the question why they cannot posit demands, Gasparyan responded: “If the matter is about solving a specific problem, when the president of the country reaches out his hand one day, two days, whereas they tell him it will be so or it will not be so, [this] speaks to the fact that there is no plan yet, and there is nothing yet to talk about.”

To the reminder that the authorities are servants of the people, the chief of police of Armenia noted: “We are not servants, we serve.”
