YEREVAN. – Baghramyan Avenue in the center of Yerevan has been “seized” by protesters for already 100 hours. The protest actions against hike in electricity prices started four days ago when the protesters marched toward Baghramyan Avenue where they have been holding a sit-in so far.

The number of protesters is growing at the moment, while police have not been making attempts to use force for the past three days.

The protesters have solved the problem of food, clothes and trash removal. Many famous people, artists, politicians and intellectuals come to Baghramyan Avenue during the day. (photos)

Despite numerous protests, the Public Services Regulatory Commission recently increased the price of electricity in Armenia, and this decision will take effect on August 1. The decision, however, is expected to be followed by an increase in the prices of numerous products and services in the country.
