Within the framework of the Armenian Genocide Centennial commemorations, the Municipality of Bouc-Bel-Air, France, had decided to name the entrance to the commune square after renowned French Armenian playwright and filmmaker Henri Verneuil, who was born Ashot Malakian.

The unveiling of the Henri Verneuil Square was held on June 27.

The mayor of Bouc-Bel-Air, Richard Mallié, delivered opening remarks at the event. He noted that there are numerous cognizant people, especially artists—the likes of Henri Verneuil—, who use their art in an attempt to yet again condemn Turkey for not recognizing the Armenian Genocide it has committed and urge it to recognize this tragedy.
