YEREVAN. - Armenia’s President Serzh Sargsyan today received Labib Khadra, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan’s (Jordan) Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research.

Sargsyan welcomed the guest to our country and praised the implementation of programs aimed at the deepening of cooperation in the sphere of education and science between Armenia and Jordan, as well as the document signed between the agencies for that purpose the previous day. Serzh Sargsyan expressed hope that the mentioned document will contribute to the development of efficient and regulated cooperation in the sphere of education and science, as well as to active bilateral communication.

Referring to the bilateral interstate relations, Sargsyan said that Armenia is interested in activating political dialogue and comprehensive cooperation development with friendly Jordan.

Minister Labib Khadra thanked the President for the warm receipt and attached importance to the cooperation program signed with the Armenian partner, which, according to him, will significantly contribute to closer ties in the sphere of education and science, exchange of students, as well as cooperation in scientific research area.

During the meeting, the interlocutors attached importance to the role of Armenian community in Jordan, which serves as a unique bridge for the strengthening of friendly relations between the two countries.

Sargsyan thanked Jordan authorities at the level of Amman Mayor for attending the Armenian Genocide Centennial events. On behalf of the Armenian nation, he also thanked the Arab people, who granted asylum to part of the survivors of the Armenian Genocide in the beginning of the last century. According to the President, the philanthropic approach of the Arab people is always remembered and highly appreciated by the Armenians.
