YEREVAN. – The police will not allow several hundreds of protestors gathered in Yerevan’s Liberty Square to hold a march, Yerevan Deputy Chief of Police Valery Osipyan told Armenian News – NEWS.am today during a rally in Liberty Square.

“We urge the citizens to stay in Liberty Square and refrain from unlawful marches. The police are here to prevent any unlawful actions,” he said.

According to Osipyan, the police are not against protestors’ assemblies and marches, but they should, according to him, be authorized by corresponding authorities.

Deputy Chief of Police also said that the protestors must get permission not only from the Municipality but also from the Ministry of Culture, since the Liberty Square is a historical and cultural area.

At the moment a few hundreds of protestors have gathered in Yerevan’s Liberty Square to discuss their further actions, as reported by Armenian News – NEWS.am correspondent.
