The death toll from passenger boat collision in Cairo has reached 35, Associated Press reports, citing Egypt’s Health Ministry.

Earlier 29 people were reported to have died, RIA Novosti reports.

According to Ministry spokesman Hossam Abdel-Ghaffar, the authorities are continuing search and rescue operations.

Wednesday night a passenger boat collided with a scow in the north of Cairo. Nearly 70 passengers, who were celebrating a family holiday, were on the boat. According to the preliminary information, all the drowned were citizens of Egypt.
