Prime Minister of Armenia Hovik Abrahamyan, within the framework of his working visit to Georgia, on Sunday attended the opening ceremony of the European Youth Olympic Festival. 

Earlier, however, Abrahamyan visited the Olympic village, and met with members of the delegation representing Armenia in this festival. The PM said he had come to encourage and wish victory to the Armenian athletes.

The Armenian athletes and coaches, for their part, noted that they will do everything to win medals in this event.

The Premier added that he underscores the development of sports in Armenia, and he stands ready to discuss any respective proposal.

Minister of Sport and Youth Affairs Gabriel Ghazaryan, in turn, noted that numerous European athletes, who achieve great success these days, had competed in this festival.

Delegations from 49 countries are participating in the European Youth Olympic Festival. Armenia will be represented at the event by 22 athletes.

On the same day, an official dinner was served on behalf of Georgian PM Irakli Garibashvili, and in honor of the heads of the delegations taking part in this festival.
