YEREVAN. – The Government of Armenia and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) will sign an agreement within the framework of the activities by the Armenian government-affiliated Anti-Corruption Council.

The Government Chief of Staff-Minister, Davit Harutyunyan, stated the abovementioned Tuesday at the first session of this council.

In his words, the USAID has expressed willingness to help Armenia in developing a strategy for combating corruption.

Harutyunyan also noted that, at present, four respective strategic domains have been considered, and they are education, health care, police, and state expenditures.

“It is important to engage experienced professionals that will be able to establish a school of experts here [in Armenia],” said the Armenian official. “They, along with their work, will work with local experts.” He added that the USAID has agreed to provide funding for these experts.

Davit Harutyunyan also said the aforementioned agreement envisions participation in this program, and a $150,000 funding.

Armenia will fund 25 percent of this program.
