YEREVAN. – Members of “Stand Up Armenia” initiative first held a 3-minute sit-in near the Armenian government's building and later in the crossing of Amiryan and Koghbatsi streets.

The police used force to make the protesters leave the action in pedestrian area.

The situation in the center of Yerevan is tense, scuffles break out between protesters and police officers.

On Sunday protesters declared their intention to start a 72-hour sit in and spent night in the square. Earlier the initiative said they would launch a wave of protest actions unless Public Services Regulatory Commission declares the decision on electricity price rise invalid by July 27.
