US Congresswoman Anna Eshoo, who has Armenian roots from her mother’s side, is one of the most fervent supporters of the strengthening of Armenian-American ties.

In her words, taking into account her Armenian-Assyrian roots, she can play a special role in the strengthening of these relations, reported Тhe Voice of America Armenian Service.

Eshoo said she feels she has a special obligation to help develop relations with the Armenian people.

The congresswoman is convinced that the US needs to assist in the development of state and public institutions in Armenia.

Anna Eshoo also shared her impressions from her visit to Armenia in April, on the Armenian Genocide Centennial, noting that she had noticed with delight the large number of talented youth in the country.

In her view, the youth in Armenia want to look to the future, and the country should be able to keep these young people inside, so that no brain drain occurs and they develop the country’s economy.

In Congresswoman Eshoo’s words, the US needs to provide major assistance to Armenia also in the Information Technology (IT) sector, and by way of helping to educate and create new opportunities—in Armenia—for the Armenian youth.

In her view, these youth wish to build a Western democracy in Armenia, and this will enable the country to stand on its feet.

Anna Eshoo added that she definitely will contribute to making Armenia-US relations grow deeper, and recalled that the Armenian nation has numerous friends in the American Congress.
