YEREVAN. – A group of attorneys has been set up in Armenia, and its objective is to inform society about the shortcomings of the current constitutional reform in the country, said attorney Gevorg Gyozalyan, at a press conference on Tuesday.

“We (…) have put forth the matter of whether or not the constitutional reforms are needed for the public,” added Gyozalyan.

In the attorney’s words, there are major drawbacks in the new draft Constitution.

He also noted that the respective research of the aforementioned group of attorneys will be publicized soon as a report.

“There are constant amendments,” noted Gevorg Gyozalyan. “Personally for me, this Constitution is reminiscent of a legislation.”

Chapters 1 through 7 of the new draft Constitution of Armenia were made public on July 15. Accordingly, the country will make a transition from a semi-presidential to a parliamentary system of governance.
