YEREVAN. - Armenia’s “Orinats Yerkir” party finds the present version of the Constitutional reforms unacceptable and is for changing some of the provisions.

With this regard, the party representatives made several proposals today at the meeting with Armenia’s President Serzh Sargsyan in the framework of consultations on constitutional changes, the party representative Mher Shahgeldyan told Armenian News – NEWS.am, saying the meeting took place in the climate of mutual understanding.

“Various Constitutional provisions were discussed. We had proposals, which the President listened to. We have presented 5 conceptual points, as well as made proposals on changing various articles,” Shahgeldyan said, adding that the final version of the Draft Constitutional Reforms will be discussed at the session of the “Armenian Renaissance” social-political union.

Shahgeldyan positively assessed the fact that the system of electors has been removed from the Draft Constitutional Reforms, and that the two-stage elections will be changed.

Serzh Sargsyan today started holding consultations with the political forces on constitutional reforms. In this framework, the President has already met with the representatives of the Prosperous Armenia, ARF and Orinats Yerkir parties.
