YEREVAN. – The Electric Networks of Armenia (ENA) CJSC is guided by the decision of the Public Services Regulatory Commission (PSRC), said ENA Spokesperson Natalya Sarjanyan, speaking to Armenian News-NEWS.am.

Sarjanyan noted the aforesaid commenting on the news that the ENA is forcing the country’s small and medium-sized enterprises to sign contracts, pursuant to which they will have to pay the increased price for electricity.

“We have contracts and appendices with the consumers, [and] where the tariff is noted,” she said. “The PSRC decided to increase the [electricity] tariff by 7 drams [per cubic meter] as of August 1, and the company submits these appendices to the public customers.”

In the ENA representative’s words, they have nothing to do with the decisions of the Armenian government, and it is the latter that needs to discuss and reach a decision regarding subsidies.

Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan, during a recent Cabinet meeting, had announced that the government will not subsidize the electricity price hike for Armenia’s large business, whereas a respective decision with regard to the small and medium-sized enterprises is still being discussed.
