YEREVAN. – The Armenian authorities have no policy toward protecting the rights of its citizens that have become migrant workers, said human rights activist Artur Sakunts, at a press conference on Saturday.

Sakunts noted that the Armenian state does nothing to protect the rights of its citizens abroad.

“It is indispensable to form [respective] obligations of the state,” he added.

The human rights activist noted that the majority of Armenian citizens travel to Russia as migrant workers, and foreign migrants’ rights are grossly violated in that country.

In his words, the Armenian authorities must take measures to protect the rights of their citizens.

As per Artur Sakunts, however, Armenian citizens can resolve this matter by electing new quality authorities that will protect the rights and interests of their citizens.
