YEREVAN. – Prime Ministers of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) member countries (Armenia, Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and most recently, Kyrgyzstan) will discuss, on September 8 in Belarus, future economic cooperation between these countries.

The Prime Minister of Armenia, Hovik Abrahamyan, stated about the aforementioned while speaking to reporters on Tuesday.

“Our [i.e. Armenia’s] future economic situation depends on the economies of the Eurasian Economic Union countries,” said the PM. “[But] we are trying to carry out major projects with our neighboring Iran; we [also] have effective cooperation with [likewise neighboring] Georgia.”

Abrahamyan added, however, that regional economic conditions also impact Armenia’s economic conditions, and therefore not everything depends on the country’s government.

In the PM’s words, Armenia’s economy is in good shape. Accordingly, the country has recorded a 4-percent economic growth, whereas Russia, Belarus, and Kazakhstan have had an economic downturn.

Hovik Abrahamyan noted, however, that this economic growth cannot immediately reflect upon the social condition of the people in Armenia.
