YEREVAN. - 5 activists were detained in Yerevan’s Baghramyan Avenue for the illegal actions against the police, Yerevan Deputy Chief of Police Valery Osipyan told Armenian News – NEWS.am today (photos).

According to him, the police can’t fulfill the demands of the activists and release them in half an hour, since the procedural issues require at least 1-2 hours.  If someone tries to block Baghramyan Avenue, they will also be detained, Osipyan said.

“The activists were bawling out abuse addressed to the police, threw stones and poured water. I consider this unacceptable. It’s already two hours we have been explaining to the citizens that this is not allowed. Everything should be done in the framework of law,” he said.

As reported earlier, the “No to Plunder” initiative activists are continuing their protest against electricity price hike in Armenia.
