YEREVAN. - 5 out of 6 activists detained today from Yerevan’s Baghramyan Avenue have been released, Yerevan Deputy Chief of Police Valery Osipyan said.

He told Armenian News – NEWS.am that he is also against the electricity price hike, but struggling this way is unacceptable to him. According to Osipyan, the activists are creating an artificial clash with the police to take the public to the streets (photos).

The activists are at the moment waiting for their released friends to join them in Baghramyan Avenue and will later decide their further steps.

The police had arrested 5 activists during the clashes with the police. The protestors announced that if they were not immediately set free, they would block Baghramyan Avenue.

The “No to Plunder” campaign had earlier announced they are re-launching their struggle against electricity price hike in Armenia, their previous demands not being fulfilled.
