YEREVAN. – A 5.2-5.3-magnitude earthquake was recorded in Azerbaijan on Friday at 8.49am local time, and it was felt in Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh), too. 

The “Survey for Seismic Protection” Agency of the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Emergency Situations of Armenia informed about the aforesaid to Armenian News-NEWS.am.

It added that the epicenter of the tremor was the Azerbaijani city of Sheki, where it was felt 7-8 magnitude.

“The quake was felt in Artsakh, with preliminary magnitude 4, [and] in [Armenia’s capital city of] Yerevan, with magnitude 3,” said the agency representatives.

The seismic activity in Azerbaijan was felt in several other settlements in Armenia—Vanadzor, Stepanavan, Kapan, Ijevan, Noyemberyan, Choratan, and Aygedzor.

It is being checked whether the earthquake has caused any damages in Armenia and in Nagorno-Karabakh.
