YEREVAN. – Tactical military drills that are being held in Armenia have no relation to the situation on the border, Deputy chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Armenia, Movses Hakobyan, told reporters.

The exercises involving the state agencies have been planned since November 2014. The aim of the drills is to check coordination of the agencies and economic capabilities.

The agencies participating in the drills had been preparing seriously.

“Previously the drills were held in different areas separately. It is the first time all agencies are participating in the exercises,” Hakobyan said.

An analytical group is gathering the data during the exercises to make conclusions afterward.

Asked about holding exercises amid border tension, Hakobyan assured it is a coincidence.
