YEREVAN. – The ethnic minorities of Armenia will decide who from them will be represented in the National Assembly of the country.

Member of the President-affiliated Specialized Committee on Constitutional Reforms, ex-Minister of Justice Hrayr Tovmasyan, stated the aforementioned at Friday’s parliamentary hearings.

In Tovmasyan’s words, the respective mechanisms will be included in the Electoral Code.

“Also discussed was the option that the [political] parties going to the election would reserve [in their election lists] passing spots for the national minorities,” he added. “But we think it’s more correct if representatives of the national minority resolve this matter.”
