YEREVAN. – I don’t think that the events in the Middle East will increase the flow of refugees to Armenia.

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) Officer-in-Charge in Armenia, head of the legal section Kate Pochapsky, stated the aforesaid at a press conference on Saturday.

Pochapsky said she does not believe that a large influx of migrants is expected in Armenia due to the current situation in the European Union countries, and that it will stay the way it is.

She added, however, that naturally, people seek to go to a place where it is more comfortable and where they have ties.

Nonetheless, as per the UNHCR representative, they expect that about 3,000 new refugees will arrive in Armenia.
