YEREVAN. – The main reason for explosions in the natural gas filling stations of Armenia is the substandard natural gas tanks that are installed in vehicles.

Head of the Testing Division for Technical Safety of Natural Gas Appliances and Fuel Facilities of the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Emergency Situations, Ruben Badeyan, stated the above-said at a press conference on Tuesday.

“The [natural gas] cylinders are morally and physically worn out,” added Badeyan noting that even the imported natural gas tanks are poor quality.

He also said the drivers in Armenia often have the natural gas tanks installed in their vehicles without the respective authorization.

Nonetheless, as per the expert, the natural gas station employees in the country likewise are to blame for the explosions, since they do not ask from each driver a document attesting to the natural gas tank having undergone inspection.

In Ruben Badeyan’s words, the exceeding of the amount of the natural gas pressure also causes explosions, and to avoid this, there should be a government decision whereby persons that commit such violations shall be punished.
