YEREVAN. – Several dozen members of the “You will not Pass” initiative, which fights against the proposed amendments to the Constitution of Armenia, on Monday assembled at Liberty Square in downtown capital city Yerevan.

The activists will march toward and stage a protest outside the National Assembly (NA), where the new draft Constitution will be voted on during the NA four-day session that kicked off on the same day.

The Armenian News-NEWS.am reporter informed from the scene that the police are overseeing the event at Liberty Square.

Initiative member Arshak Musakhanyan told us, however, that they do not expect a large number of participants because it is a workday.

If the parliament passes the proposed constitutional amendments, a respective referendum is expected to be conducted in early December.

Pursuant to the new draft Constitution, Armenia will make a transition from a semi-presidential to a parliamentary system of governance.
