YEREVAN. – The opposition Heritage Faction will continue its activities in the National Assembly (NA) of Armenia as before.

Faction MP Zaruhi Postanjyan told the above-said Tuesday to Armenian News-NEWS.am. She noted this in response to the query on what Heritage will do after Monday’s voting on the draft constitutional amendments.

“As always,” added Postanjyan.

The deputy also informed that, from now on, only she will represent the Heritage NA Faction.

Ruben Hakobyan had recently announced about quitting the opposition Heritage Party and also stepping down as head of the “Heritage” NA Faction.

From the Heritage Faction, only Zaruhi Postanjyan voted against on Monday’s parliamentary voting.

The Heritage Party says “no” to the proposed constitutional amendments.

The NA on Monday voted on and passed the decision on agreeing to hold a referendum on the draft amendments to the Constitution.

Pursuant to the new draft Constitution, Armenia will make a transition from a semi-presidential to a parliamentary system of governance. The opponents of these proposed constitutional amendments, however, consider them to be the authorities’ attempt to prolong their power.
