YEREVAN. – Russian-Turkish relations are deteriorating because Syria, and not only.

Caucasus Institute Director, political scientist Alexander Iskandaryan, stated the above-said at a press conference on Thursday.

In his words, the violation of the borders is not the actual problem in relations between Russia and Turkey.

“Russia and Turkey are rivals in the Syrian issue,” noted Iskandaryan. “But everything is very situational for Turkey.”

The analyst added that although the Russian missile had flown also over Iran and Iraq, these countries did not resent this development.

“This is Turkey’s reaction against the backdrop of the [early parliamentary] election campaign,” added Alexander Iskandaryan.

But he noted that, in all likelihood, a ground operation will be conducted in Syria.
