YEREVAN. – Armenia, not being a French-speaking country but having joined the International Organisation of La Francophonie (OIF), has been given a great chance to deepen cultural, trade, and economic relations with the French-speaking countries, which are a huge market.

CEO of TV5Monde French-language global television network, Yves Bigot, told the above-said to Armenian News-NEWS.am.

Bigot arrived in Armenia’s capital city of Yerevan on Friday, and to participate in the 31st meeting of the OIF Ministerial Conference.

In his words, it is not necessary to be a French-speaker to join the large La Francophonie family and make use of its ample opportunities.

As per the TV5Monde CEO, holding the aforesaid OIF Ministerial Conference in Yerevan is a great idea, and this also will enable OIF-member French-speaking countries to get to know Armenia.

The 31st meeting of the OIF Ministerial Conference will be convened on Saturday and Sunday in Yerevan.

Around five hundred representatives from the OIF member states and its Secretariat are arriving in Yerevan to attend this event.

The main cultural event of the 31st meeting of the OIF Ministerial Conference will be Saturday’s concert by world-renowned French Armenian singer, songwriter, actor, public activist, and diplomat Charles Aznavour.

In addition, music bands from France and Haiti are scheduled to perform in Yerevan and in Gyumri city.

Furthermore, exhibitions on Armenian tourism, high technology, manufactured products, and culture are planned to be organized within the framework of this event.

The convention will be followed by an official visit to Armenia by OIF Secretary-General Michaëlle Jean.
