YEREVAN. – Convenience is very important in the implementation of the Silk Road project, and we do not force any country to join this project. 

Adviser of the embassy of China in Armenia, Lo Xisyun, told the above-said to reporters, within the framework of Friday’s conference on the Silk Road project of the 21st century.

“Armenia and China have good relations,” Lo noted. “As for the Silk Road, we are ready to discuss and make [respective] decisions with our Armenian partners.”

To the query on whether Armenia will partake in the Silk Road project along the lines of the Eurasian Economic Union or separately, he responded: “With both bilateral and multilateral format. (…) The most important thing here is that the principle of transparency is maintained with the initiative.”

The Chinese adviser, responding to Armenian News-NEWS.am’s question on what economic sense Armenia can appeal to China, said: “Armenia is a mutually beneficial partner for China in the domains of trade, contact, and friendship. Friendship is more important than even trade.”

Lo Xisyun, reflecting on the query as to the possibility of the new Silk Road passing through Armenia, noted; “The Silk Road is not solely one road, or solely highways.”
