YEREVAN. - Screening of the music documentary by the famous Brazilian director Dacio Malta “Noel Rosa: Poet of Vila and people” (Noel Rosa: Poeta da Vila e do Povo) took place in the French University in Armenia today. The interesting event was organized for the students by the Embassy of Brazil in Armenia.

According to the Ambassador of Brazil to Armenia Edson Marinho Duarte Monteiro, the French culture is known to have occupied special place in the culture of his country. “It’s very pleasant for us to have the opportunity to show the music documentary, which enhances the ties with the French community. Music plays a great role in Brazil. I know that Armenia also has good music traditions,” he said.

Edson Marinho Duarte Monteiro expressed special gratitude to his old friend, film director Dacio Malta, who came from Brazil to Armenia specially for the film screening.

“This is also a very good opportunity for the students of the French University in Armenian to develop their knowledge of the French language; the film subtitles are in French,” the Ambassador said.

The film “Noel Rosa: Poet of Vila and people” is about the artistic life of the composer Noel, who lived for 26 years and died from tuberculosis. But in a very short period he managed to write about 227 musical works, the majority of which is samba. Some of his works later became genuine musical masterpieces.
