President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan today visited the renovated medical center in the Armenian town of Chambarak by the Azerbaijani border. The President toured the pavilions, talked to the medical personnel and inquired about the working conditions in the region located far from Yerevan.

Before the capital repair, the building was in an extremely adverse condition. The capital repair was carried out by the loan proceeds of the World Bank (WB), on behalf of the Armenian Territorial Development Fund.

The Embassy of Japan in Armenia also supported the project by a grant, due to which the World Vision benevolent organization provided the center with additional equipment.

The center has child contagious isolation ward, therapeutics and surgical departments, as well as modern diagnostic equipment. The total expenses constituted nearly 584 mln AMD (approx. $1.2 mln), out of which 411 mln was allocated by the Ministry of Health, Armenia’s Minister of Health Armen Muradyan said.

“Modern medicine is not only skilful doctors, but also the entire infrastructure needed. For this reason, we are opening already the 13th medical center, including the second one in Gegharkunik province, in the framework of the symmetric development program. Now, I’m sure, residents of Chambarak will not have to reach Yerevan and other cities of the region for treatment,” the minister said.
