YEREVAN. - “Heritage” party leader Raffi Hovannisian has urged the Chief of Armenian Police Vladimir Gaspayan to sober up. This was in response to the statement issued by the police, which urged the rally organizers Raffi Hovannisian and Jirayr Sefilian to sober up and not deviate from the previously considered route, refraining from provocative actions aimed at sparking clashes.

According to Hovannisian, the police didn’t have a right to ban the protestors from approaching the building of the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) and not allow him to lay flowers by the building, since the RPA Headquarters is not a governmental, but a private building.

In Hovannisian's words, the march participants are now moving to Liberty Square, where speeches will be delivered and announcements will be made regarding their short- and long-term steps.

Referring to the announcement of the police that they have deviated from their route, Hovannisian said: “I shouldn’t haggle with them on whether I can walk one street away or not.”
