YEREVAN. – Armenia is interested in continuing its collaboration with the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (OSCE/ODIHR).

Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian on Tuesday stated the above-said at his joint news conference with Minister for Foreign Affairs of Sweden Margot Wallström, who is paying an official visit to Armenia.

Responding to the query on the OSCE/ODIHR report regarding the constitutional reforms in Armenia, the FM noted that ODIHR does not monitor referenda, since its members have not assumed such commitments.

“Nonetheless, Armenia had invited ODIHR to monitor the [recent] referendum [on constitutional amendments] for one purpose; that the process would be as transparent as possible,” the Armenian FM assured. “[And] in the letter addressed to us, the organization highly evaluates the effective cooperation with Armenia, and hopes that the recommendations noted in the report will be taken into account, [and] the cooperation aimed at improving the electoral system [in the country] will continue.”
