YEREVAN. – The ongoing inspections in the 5th Army Corps of Armenia and in the 102nd Russian Military Base in Gyumri have coincided.

Minister of Defense of Armenia Seyran Ohanyan on Tuesday sated the above-said to reporters, and after his talk with the students and faculty at Yerevan State University.

“Aside from the planned measures put before them, all armed forces also have elements of sudden inspection; we [i.e. the Armenian Armed Forces] also have such a plan,” Ohanyan said. “And one day ago, it seems to have coincided that inspections have begun in our 5th Army Corps and in the 102nd Russian Military Base.”

In his words, such measures have political and military significance, and they are important for the maintenance of the situation.

As reported earlier, surprise inspections began Monday in all military bases of the Southern Military Okrug (district) of the Russian Armed Forces, including in the 102nd Russian Military Base in Gyumri, Armenia. 

The Russian Minister of Defense, Sergey Shoygu, informed that, during these inspections, the okrug’s readiness to respond to various crisis situations will be assessed.

On the same day, surprise inspections started also in the 5th Army Corps of the Ministry of Defense of Armenia.
