YEREVAN. – Political part of the former EU-Armenia Association Agreement can be incorporated in the new document of cooperation, head of the EU Delegation to Armenia, Ambassador Piotr Świtalski, told the media Tuesday in capital city Yerevan.

Negotiations, which kicked off in December 2015 in Brussels, are conducted in a friendly and constructive spirit. Both sides expressed their desire to conclude them as soon as possible and in a mutually acceptable way, he said.

Other parts of the agreement cannot be revisited without adjustments: obviously, deep and comprehensive free trade cannot be part of the agenda, given Armenia’s commitments in the Eurasian Economic Union.

“But still, both sides can lay a good foundation to encourage European businesses for engagements in Armenia. This is a good start for cooperation, and not their upper limit  – one could say, a floor, not a ceiling,” he concluded.
