YEREVAN. – President of the National Assembly (NA), Galust Sahakyan, on Wednesday received Dutch Ambassador Johannes Douma.

Speaker of the Armenian parliament highlighted the intensification of bilateral political contacts and the rapprochement of parliamentary cooperation between the two countries, but noted that the current level of relations is still insufficient.

The NA informed Armenian News-NEWS.am that Sahakyan stated that the parliaments of the countries are of great importance in the relations of the states as open institutes, and said they promote the development and strengthening of bilateral ties.

He expressed the hope that owing to the Dutch ambassador’s activities, it will be possible to develop bilateral relations and make them reach a new level. In this context, the NA chairman underscored cooperation at international platforms as well as in the political, trade, economic, and cultural domains.

Ambassador Douma, for his part, noted that Armenia is a reliable partner for the European Union (EU), and added that, with their activities, will promote the further development of Armenia-EU cooperation.

In the ensuing talk, Galust Sahakyan and Johannes Douma discussed the future Armenia-EU legal document, and the joint programs to be implemented.
