YEREVAN. - The Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF) and Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) have reached preliminary agreement to form a coalition.

Vice President of the Armenian National Assembly Eduard Sharmazanov, who is also the RPA Spokesman, told the aforementioned to the journalists after the RPA Executive Body session today.

According to him, inter-party and inter-political issues were discussed at the session, reference being also made to the format of cooperation with ARF.

“RPA and ARF have a preliminary agreement to work with the government in the future. You will be informed on the final agreement by the end of the week. RPA considers the signing of an agreement with the ARF very probable,” Sharmazanov said.

The Vice President declined to respond to the question on which ministerial portfolios and provinces will be given to ARF. “As a party spokesman, I have no right to inform publicly about the offices. At this stage I can say that ARF and RPA have common agreement to work together on the political agenda in the future,” he said.

Sharmazanov also declined to respond to the question on the resignation of Armenia’s Education Minister Armen Ashotyan, advising to wait for three more days.

He also noted that ARF and RPA have reached agreement over the issue of offices, but he refused to mention precise figures.
