YEREVAN. – The US National Intelligence report, and regarding the possibility of an escalation of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict in the current year, does not mean that the military actions will resume, Caucasus Institute Deputy Director, political analyst Sergey Minasyan, told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

In his words, this report is a formality bureaucratic document, which the US National Intelligence prepares once a year.

“There is nothing abnormal in this document. In the part, which refers to the Karabakh conflict, it is noted that there is a risk of escalation,” Minasyan said. “American intelligence work includes the revealing of all potential threats, [and] conflicts, first and foremost, from the viewpoint of the national interests of the United States. Accordingly, this is a formality document which assumes the possibility of such a threat, but nothing more.”

Director James Clapper of US National Intelligence presented a report on Tuesday, and in which it noted that there is a potential that the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict will escalate in 2016.
