At the request of Istanbul Armenian Garo Paylan, who is a parliament member from the pro-Kurdish “Peoples’ Democratic Party” (HDP) of Turkey, Sunday’s parliamentary activities were recessed.

Paylan noted that recess is announced in the Turkish parliament for the Muslim prayers on Friday, and demanded that that recess be announced for him, too, so he can go to church on Sunday, according to Milliyet daily newspaper of Turkey.

The parliament speaker met the Armenian MP’s demand, and recessed Sunday’s parliamentary activities for 40 minutes, enabling the Armenian deputy to go to church.

Garo Paylan, in turn, used this recess and visited the church nearest to Parliament, prayed, and returned to Parliament.
