YEREVAN. – Inventors of WearSens, a device that can help people track food intake, intend to create an applications for monitoring Kidney dialysis patients, who must regulate their fluid intake, one of the engineers at UCLA told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

“There are also other interesting clinical applications we are exploring as well. One of the possible applications is for monitoring Kidney dialysis patients, who must regulate their fluid intake. Another angle is fluid intake for seniors, as prior studies have shown that the elderly are more predisposed to dehydration. Definitely- it will be interesting to see the outcome of our clinical trials later this year,” said Hayk Kalantarian.

The 26-year-old engineer made his first research in this area several years ago. He is one of the inventors of WearSens necklaces that can monitor food and drink intake and send the data to mobile phone.

“Unlike most engineering fields, Computer Science is relatively new and rapidly evolving. As a result, there are many opportunities for innovation and novelty- both in research and application. The job market for Computer Science majors also tends to be strong, particularly in California,” he added.

Hayk is the son of famous software engineer Artak Kalantarian and the grandson of the publicist Artashes Kalantarian.
