STEPANAKERT. – President of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR/Artsakh), Bako Sahakyan, on Wednesday had a talk with visiting Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II, and Catholicos of the Great House of Cilicia of the Armenian Apostolic Church, Aram I.

Armenian state-church relations and Motherland-Diaspora ties were discussed at the meeting, reported the Central Information Department of the Office of the NKR President.

The large-scale hostilities unleashed by Azerbaijan from April 2 to 5, and their consequences, also were at the focus of this talk.

President Sahakyan noted that during this ordeal the entire Armenian nation demonstrated exemplary unity and cohesion and fervent patriotism and selflessness, highlighting the role of the Armenian Apostolic Church in this process.

Also, he lauded the two catholicoi’s visit to Artsakh, pointing out its historic significance from the spiritual and political viewpoint, and in terms of the patriotic upbringing of the younger generation.
