YEREVAN. - The four-day April war showed that the Genocide is the distinctive feature of the Turkish nation. Beheadings, cutting off ears and mistreatment of the bodies of the dead – this is a Turkish handwriting, Turkish human rights defender Mahmut Uzun, Chairman of Union against Genocide, told Armenian News – NEWS.am.

The Turkish human rights defender arrives in Yerevan every April 24 to visit the Armenian Genocide Memorial Complex and apologize to the Armenian people for the atrocities carried out by his people.

“A number of Turkish NGOs stand for justice and want recognition and condemnation of the Armenian Genocide, as well as reparation for it. They are struggling so that the recognition of the Turkish community reaches the level of genocide acknowledgement. Small part of the Turkish community has already accepted the actual history and acknowledged the Genocide, but the Turkish authorities continue their denial policy,” he noted.

The Turkish human rights defender was a political prisoner in his country for 20 years. Currently he lives in London.

This year he has come to Yerevan to demand the international community to recognize Artsakh.

Referring to the aggression unleashed by Azerbaijan against Nagorno-Karabakh, the human rights defender noted that the four-day war showed that the genocide is the genetic peculiarity of the Turks. “I denounce such actions,” he stressed.
