First-Vice-President of EU Frans Timmermans stated that the European Commission is convinced that the Syrian refugees who have appeared in Turkey do not want to arrive in the European Union, but to return home.

Timmermans said that therefore their efforts on support of actions of the international community to find ways to establish peace in Syria must be doubled so that these people could start rebuilding their country, he said , addressing European Parliament deputies.

He reported that member countries have sent a thousand experts to Greece for implementation of the EU – Turkey plan. The politician described as unprecedented  the cooperation of the European countries in fight against migration crisis.

Timmermans also told lawmakers that the Commision is actively discussing the implementation of refugee assistance projects with Turkey, for which the EU allocates Ankara three billion euros, RIA Novosti reported.
