The Turkey Armenians were a little confused by the buzz over the liturgy in Surb Khach church, Turkish studies expert Artak Shakaryan told the journalists on September 28. According to him, we should understand Armenians of Istanbul and not accuse them for being ruled by the Turkish authorities.

“Any resistance and Armenian schools and churches will be closed. They should not be criticized. We should understand their perception of not putting a cross on Surb Khach church. Many Armenians of Istanbul consider it a right decision, as otherwise the show would have failed. He also thinks that the cross will not be installed on Surb Khach church in 1,5 months as they promised, but  the erecting will be delayed till February or March, prior to April 24, the Genocide Commemoration Day,” he said.
