It’s not Armenia that is discussing the recognition of Nagorno-Karabakh: this is [merely] the proposal of two MPs, Russian FM Sergey Lavrov said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

In his words, according to the law, the Armenian Government must prepare a conclusion on that bill, as they have explained to everyone, calming the passions. “I won’t raise alarm and panic now. When I was in Yerevan and during the telephone conversation with my Armenian counterpart Edward Nalbandian, and later when I was in Moocow already after the events of early April, Yerevan precisely confirmed to me its commitment to peaceful settlement. This means that the status of Karabakh will be determined in the context of a general agreement, and not unilaterally,” Lavrov stressed.

On Thursday, the Armenian Government will consider the bill on the recognition of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR), which was introduced by National Assembly (NA) MPs Zaruhi Postanjyan and Hrant Bagratyan.
