The US President Barack Obama announced that Taliban movement leader Mullah Akhtar Mansoor is dead , writes The Washington Post. Obama qualified the neutralization of Mansour as an important step towards peace and prosperity in Afghanistan.
Akhtar Mansoor was killed by American air strikes near the border of Pakistan. It became known on May 21.
