Kiev suggests to complete the construction of a sports ground for Eurovision that will cost $ 70 million, reports the Ukrainian Vesty. One of the requirements of  Eurovision is to have a closed venue for competition.

The Mayor of Kyiv Vitali Klitschko said that it is too expensive to build a temporary transforming roof for the national sport complex Olimpiyskiy.

"Initially, we got a cover designed for Olimpiyski. But we might not manage to complete it on time," said Klitschko. The most possible option for him is to construct a modern sports ground on Stolichnaya street, where there are already bases for it. The mayor said he has already talked with the owner of the complex. "They can accomplish it in six or seven months ," said Klitschko.

Kiev state renovation administration approved that the sport ground in Kyev is one of the possible venues for Eurovision, but the final decision will be made in early June. Kiev mayor’s office claims that the platform needs at least $ 70 million for construction. Mayor Dmitry Belozerkovets said that it is necessary to construct the structure and walls. "When we complete the construction, there will be possible to hold not only sport events but also concerts. It is unfinished, because it is not the city that undertook the  construction , but investors, "he said.

According to the mayor’s adviser, the city does not intend to purchase the sports ground from the investors, since it is very expensive . The investors themselves doubt (businessmen Alexander Volkov and Dmitry Buryak ) that they will be able to complete the project by their own. " If there are people who are ready to become a third party and invest money in the construction , all the work will be completed by the time the  Eurovision starts, " said Volkov .

Kiev Sports Ground was laid out in 2013 as Eurobasket 2015 and was canceled due to the situation in Ukraine.
