The Japan’s oldest elephant that lived at Inokashira Park Zoo since 1949 has died, Tokyo Reporter said.  

Hanako,an Asian elephant was gifted by Thai authorities. The elephant lived in the small concrete enclosure. There was a petition urging to transport an animal back to Thailand some time ago, but it was decided that the elephant is too old to move.

Translated into Englih Hanako means "a flower child". She was 69 years old. It is considered record age for the Asian elephants living in captivity.
