An elk jumped off the window of one of the offices in the center of Helsinki, Lenta reports citing iltasanomat.fi

In the words of the police representative Arto Laitinen, the police for the first time received an alert on the appearance of the elk in the city streets Thursday morning.

The animal was then seen in Töölö district. The elk ran into the bank and then jumped off the window. Despite suffering serious injuries, it managed to cross several more streets.

The law enforcement officers were forced to kill the animal. Nobody was injured as a result of the incident.

The elk had most probably come to Helsinki from Seurasaari island. The police also noted that this is quite a rare case, since the elks usually don’t cross the city boundary.
