NATO should take part in the war against the ISIL, US special envoy for countering ISIS Brett McGurk said in an interview with Spiegel.

The details on the Alliance’s involvement will be discussed at the July summit in Warsaw.

"NATO should play a very important role. On the one hand, the training of Iraqi forces, which has been carried out in Jordan so far, can be expanded,” he said and expressed hope that they will make a decision on concrete goals during the Warsaw summit.

According to the American special envoy, the United States launches “a new phase in the war against the ISIL” which involves conducting simultaneous offensive operations on different fronts, particularly in the direction of the Syrian Raqqa and Fallujah in Iraq, RIA Novosti reported.

According to him, nearly 300 US military advisers are currently working in Syria, mainly with Kurdish groups.

“The Islamists are weakened. Their cash flows are reduced,” he said, adding that the financial leader of the Islamists, as well as “Chechen”, who was one of the main warlords, have been killed.
